Teal ornament graphic with '6 Virgin Islands New Year's Events' text and Virgin Islands logo over a sea background.Welcome the new year in true Caribbean style! Virgin Islanders go all out for New Year’s Eve, traditionally referred to as “Old Year’s Night.” Check out our guide to the six most electrifying Virgin Islands New Years celebrations to ensure you kick off the year with a bang:

1. Sapphire Beach Bar Party (St. Thomas)

This outdoor event is free to attend and is one of the largest Virgin Islands New Years parties! Sapphire Beach Bar will feature a DJ, fire dancers, and Moko Jumbies, as well as flowing drinks at their beach bar and a thrilling fireworks display at midnight. Of course, nearby bars will also join in, transforming the waterfront into a large, sprawling extravaganza.

2. Liveaboard Sailing Courses

Ring in the new year with newly acquired sailing skills! Go Sail VI’s learn-to-sail vacations simultaneously allow you to earn ASA certifications with hands-on lessons from outstanding sailing instructors, while also enjoying an unforgettable Virgin Islands New Years trip! You can customize your itinerary to check out different events and even watch the fireworks with crewmates on board.

3. Cruz Bay Barhop (St. John)

Cruz Bay may be a smaller, more intimate town than Charlotte Amalie, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find a lively Virgin Islands New Years atmosphere! Stroll around the center and you will find The Beach Bar hosting the best bands, while DR!NK and The Longboard contribute their own beats, and food vendors line the streets.

4. Crucian Christmas Festival (St. Croix)

Not just for Christmas, the Crucian Christmas Festival continues into early January. On December 31st, there is a Food Fair during the day followed by an Old Year’s Night celebration in the evening, with parades, costume dance, traditional music, and fireworks. The festival continues with a J’ouvert sunrise dance party on January 1st, which holds deep cultural significance in the Caribbean.

5. Sunrise from Point Udall (St. Croix)

Point Udall is the easternmost point in the United States, meaning it is the first place in the country where the sun rises. For this reason, it is a popular spot for Old Year’s Night celebrations, which last until morning, when crowds are treated to the breathtaking view of a clear sunrise over the sea.

6. New Year’s Eve at Trellis Bay (Beef Island)

A fun, family-friendly Virgin Islands New Years event is held at Trellis Bay Market Bar & Grill. The party features tasty island BBQ, live steel pan drum performances, an explosive fire show presented by a local artist, and fireworks with water effects!

Whether or not you join us in the Virgin Islands this year, Go Sail VI wishes you and your family a wonderful New Year full of fair winds and new horizons!
