Welcome to Go Sail Virgin Islands
Hello,
I am Captain Genevieve Evans, I am the founder of Go Sail Virgin Islands and Go Sail Flathead Lake, an International USCG Master 50 Ton Captain and an American Sailing Master Instructor.
I love sailing. It is my passion. I love the community, the culture, the yachts, and all the amazing friends I have made on my sailing journey. My favorite part is you just never stop learning. I have taught hundreds of people from every walk of life over the years and everyone has one thing in common. You have to start somewhere. I started on a 6 month live aboard cruise in the Bahamas with someone I barely knew and it was an adventure! I wish I could go back and gift myself these courses.
I taught for other schools for about 10 years and I felt like the students did not get the communication support they needed up front. They did not have the tools to prepare adequately for the hands-on learning they needed. The boats were not well maintained and the students would end up disappointed. I hated that, so I decided to start my own school.
Our crew has developed a premier learn-to-sail hands-on ASA sailing course in the stunning Virgin Islands for those wanting to sail anywhere. We value our instructors and retain the best talent. We use professionally maintained yachts, new technology, and carefully crafeted communications to help prepare you for your course.
We foster connections in the sailing community. Your purpose, your goals, and helping to evolve your sailing journey is our mission.

She has always loved being on or near the water, it’s her “happy place”. Now she lives in Montana near Flathead Lake and spends her summers sailboat racing with her better half, on their J24 “Sisu”. She was introduced to sailing a few years ago when Trevon said “Let’s race in the Montana Cup Regatta” She received a crash course in sailing and racing that weekend and has been enjoying it ever since. Captain Barry White
“I love meeting new sailors and not only teaching them but learning from their experiences.”
I have lived in the Midwest all my life, from city to rural. It wasn’t until I started dating my soon to be wife that her brother took us waterskiing on a little lake in Topeka that I found my joy of being on the lake! I’m married with three kids who are all out of the house as of recently. Our weeknights and weekends have been spent out on the boat with the kids. Five years ago, a good friend of mine invited me out on his sailboat and I was all in! Coming from a construction background, the mechanics of working with the boat however the wind will allow is amazing! I’ve been sailing the lakes of the Midwest and the cruising waters of the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean acquiring ASA certifications. I particularly enjoy seeing the joy that sailing brings others as they find new adventures.
Captain Barry holds a USCG license and is a certified ASA instructor.
