What is A Bareboat Charter?
In essence, a bareboat charter means you provide the crew and we provide the sailboat! A Virgin Islands bareboat charter is a great option for sailors to put their sailing skills to the test. Unlike a captained sailboat charter in the Virgin Islands or ASA courses, you will not have a captain or instructor on board for a Virgin Islands bareboat charter. You’ll need to know how to skipper the boat yourself! Many Go Sail Virgin Islands ASA course graduates choose to book a bareboat charter in the Virgin Islands after completing their Series 1 ASA courses with Go Sail.

Bareboat Charter Qualifications
Are you an ASA graduate or do you have a bareboat charter license or bareboat charter certification (such at the International Proficiency Certificate [IPC])? If so, you have all the bareboat charter qualifications you need to bareboat charter in the Virgin Islands with Go Sail! If you aren’t sure that you meet the bareboat charter requirements or don’t think you have the necessary bareboat charter qualifications, we recommend signing up for ASA sailing courses before you charter a bareboat in the Virgin Islands.
Planning Your Bareboat Charter
We are excited to help you plan your Virgin Islands bareboat charter vacation! We pride ourselves on being a constant resource to sailors through every step of their Virgin Islands sailing journeys. That begins with planning! Here are a few key points to keep in mind when planning a bareboat charter vacation in the Virgin Islands with Go Sail:
BVI Bareboat Charters vs USVI Bareboat Charters
Go Sail Virgin Islands offers bareboat charters in the British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands. While this video is more tailored to students taking ASA courses in the Virgin Islands, it does offer some very valuable insights for bareboat skippers and crew in determining where they might want to sail in the Virgin Islands, as well.

Types of Virgin Island Charter Boats
Would you rather set sail on a monohull, catamaran, or trimaran for your bareboat charter vacation? Go Sail Virgin Islands offers all three sailboat options in the Virgin Islands! You can learn more about each yacht type on our All Yachts page and learn about specific yacht models available in the Virgin Islands on our yacht pages too!
USVI and BVI Bareboat Charter Prices
The price for a US Virgin Islands or British Virgin Islands boat charter will depend on the length of your bareboat charter vacation and the type of sailboat you choose to bareboat charter the Virgin Islands on. The best way for us to meet all your individual bareboat charter needs is through a email where we get to know your bareboat charter plans. We’ll ask about USVI or BVI, sailing dates, number of guests, preferences on number of cabins, sailboat brands, vessel designs, vessel amenities and more to ensure we match you with the perfect sailboat! For example, would you like to charter a sailboat in the Virgin Islands with 3 cabins or 6 cabins? Would you like air conditioning watermaker, generator on your bareboat charter? These are the types of questions we will ask when you call us to inquire about a bareboat charter and from there, we can provide you with accurate USVI and BVI bareboat charter prices.
Go Sail Virgin Islands does offer special bareboat charter discounts to Go Sail alumni and ASA members! Make sure to ask us about receiving 10% off your bareboat charter in the Virgin Islands when you book with us!
