We have multiple courses every week. Our Captains are assigned 7-10 days in advance of the course start date, based on the number of participants in each course and yacht availability.
The 7-day course would generally have 3-5 participants. We reserve one cabin for the instructor and/or the first mate, so up to three cabins are available for participants. In a 4-cabin yacht, there would be a maximum of 6 students, if each available cabin was occupied by a couple. More typically, however, there could be one or two couples, and one or two single participants and the typical class size is 4-5 people.
PLANNING YOUR TRIP

We are the most experienced ASA sailing school in the area. Joining our sailing community brings it all together. Amazing experience with local hosts, we use classic and newer boats, and get the confidence you want to go sailing whenever, wherever with whomever. Host the sails!

We sail and moor or anchor in the U.S. Virgin Islands bays on St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix while learning how to operate the boat on a crew-centered adaptable itinerary. It is different every time because of wind and weather factors. We want to schedule time for sailing skills, island hopping, snorkeling, and beach time. This is a large stable vessel and it’s not as likely for you to get sea sick.
Sleep aboard starts at 5 PM on the day of your booking at the marina where the boat is docked in St Thomas, USVI. The Captain will be you and show you to the boat. Once you are settled, the first crew meeting begins with introductions and itinerary suggestions. Then the captain will show you around the vessel and do a short boat orientation. We will recommend some great dinner spots off the vessel for the first night.
7 AM daily, breakfast, coffee, and/or tea will be available.
Every morning at 8 AM we will spend about an hour at the galley table (classroom), to discuss topics like exam review (1 each day), theory, boat systems, and navigation, and the sailing skills for the day and plans for our desired anchorages.
The sailing daily after the morning class session we will operate the boat until around 4-5 PM, stopping for a midday lunch break, with swimming and snorkeling options.
We will anchor or moor every evening around 4-5 PM. We will have time for knot tying, swimming, debriefing, free time, island exploring, preparing dinner aboard and/or going ashore. The final day is for finalizing all the paperwork for certifications, logbooks, and sea-time forms. Then we will set sail to the marina. At the dock you will have time for vessel clean up and packing for a 10 AM departure. We can help you arrange a taxi to pick you up.
